Deactivating or deleting your account
MyReviewz™ provides two ways to close access to an account: temporary deactivation and permanent deletion.
| Deactivate | Delete | |
|---|---|---|
| Can I undo it? | Yes — reactivate anytime | No — permanent |
| What happens to my data? | Kept, untouched | Permanently erased |
| Can I still log in? | Yes | No — your login is removed |
| Who can do it? | The account owner | The account owner |
| What do I need first? | Be on the Free plan | Be on the Free plan |
Not sure? Deactivate. It turns everything off but keeps your account, so you can come back later with all your history intact.
Both options live on your Billing page, which only the account owner can see.
Before you do either: cancel your subscription
You can only deactivate or delete an account that's on the Free plan. If you have an active subscription — or you're still in your free trial — you'll need to cancel it first.
To cancel, go to Billing and tap Manage billing. That opens your billing portal, where you can cancel your subscription.
Canceling doesn't switch you to Free right away. Your subscription stays active — monitoring, alerts, everything — until the end of the period you've already paid for. When that period ends, your account moves to Free. You keep what you paid for; you just aren't billed again.
That timing matters here: the Deactivate account and Delete account options don't appear the moment you click cancel. They appear once the paid period has actually ended and your account is on Free. If you've canceled and don't see them yet, check the end date shown in your billing portal — that's when they'll show up.
Deactivating your account (reversible)
Closing up for the season, or just taking a break? Deactivating turns your MyReviewz™ account off without losing anything.
What deactivating does:
- Your QR code stops working. Anyone who scans it — from a table tent, receipt, or sticker — won't be able to leave a review, send a concern, or take a survey until you reactivate.
- We stop checking your review sites. No new reviews are collected and no alerts go out.
- Nothing is deleted. Every review, concern, survey response, and team member stays exactly as it was.
To deactivate:
- Go to Billing. (Make sure you're on the Free plan — see above.)
- Find the Deactivate account section and tap Deactivate account.
- Type DEACTIVATE to confirm.
To come back:
Go to Billing and tap Reactivate account. Your QR code starts working again and your account picks up where it left off. You can do this anytime — there's no time limit.
Reactivating puts your account back on Free. To turn monitoring back on, choose a plan from the same page.
Deleting your account (permanent)
Deleting removes your MyReviewz™ account and everything in it. This cannot be undone.
What deleting does:
- We stop monitoring your review sites and turn off your QR code.
- Your login stops working right away. You'll be signed out and won't be able to sign back in.
- All your data is permanently erased — your reviews, private concerns, survey responses, and team — after a short hold of about a week.
Once you've requested deletion, there is no way to cancel it yourself. If you think you might ever come back, deactivate instead.
To delete:
- Go to Billing. (Make sure you're on the Free plan — see above.)
- Find the red Delete account section and tap Delete account.
- Type your business name exactly as shown to confirm.
- Tap Delete permanently.
Only the account owner can delete the account. Team members won't see this option.
What about my reviews on Google, Tripadvisor, or Trustpilot?
Nothing changes there. MyReviewz™ reads reviews that are already public on those sites — we don't own them, and deactivating or deleting your MyReviewz™ account has no effect on them. Your public reviews stay right where they are.
